Hydrotherapy is known to have positive effects on both physical and mental wellbeing as well as being effective and enjoyable form of physical therapy. By harnesses the unique properties of water, we’re allowed to perform a range of movements that would otherwise be difficult to perform on land.
Hydrotherapy is also used for relaxation. The pool is heated to a comfortable warm temperature, which helps your muscles relax, relieve pain, boost immunity, which helps reduce stress and anxiety levels.
How Hydrotherapy Works For NDIS Participants
Hydrotherapy sessions are conducted at local pools and most are equipped with a hoist. The hoist functions as a water chair to provide a safe and convenient way for the participant to enter and exit the water.
When in the pool, our skilled therapists will work with the participant to perform a range of activities in the water, such as light physical exercise to improve balance, coordination and strength.
Funding for hydrotherapy is billed under the NDIS Capacity Building funding category ‘Improved Daily Living Skills’. The sessions are facilitated by a qualified physiotherapist.
