Register for My Aged Care and Determine Your Eligibility
You can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or complete their self-service form online. If you’re eligible, My Aged Care will organise an assessor to visit you or your family member’s home. During their visit, the assessor will evaluate the needs and determine the level of support required at home.
The approval process can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months. When a Home Care Package is assigned to you, you’ll then get to nominate your chosen service provider (such as EnableU) to commence services.
Privately Fund Your Home Care Services While You Wait
The government assessment process can take time. If you’re seeking services right away or prefer not to wait, you may want to consider privately funding your care as a temporary solution.
Many families often choose to privately fund their Home Care services while they wait for their Home Care Package to be approved.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is home care and home care services?
Home care, also known as in-home care, is a range of support services that help individuals at their home. These services include personal hygiene and care, dressing, mobility assistance, meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation. Health care services like nursing, physiotherapy, and other allied health supports are also available.
In Australia, the government provides an opportunity for older people to receive home care support through Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). These government programmes often subsidise in-home care services based on income.
If you do not have a Home Care Package, you can access home care services using your NDIS funding (if you have it) or through private funding.
What do home care services include?
Home care services are designed to support older individuals who may find specific daily tasks challenging. These services allow them to remain in their own homes instead of moving to an aged care facility. In-home care services can include:
- Domestic assistance like laundry, dishwashing, and house cleaning.
- Gardening and home maintenance.
- Allied health support services such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
- Meal preparation and shopping.
- Safety and security measures, such as personal response systems, fall detectors, and medical alarms.
- Social and recreational support, including social worker visits and support groups.
- Nursing and personal care, such as bathing, mobility assistance, and dressing.
- Transportation services.
If you have a Home Care Package, you can also purchase equipment and services such as:
- A range of assistive technologies including wheelchairs.
- Elevated beds and recliners.
- Home modification services to enhance the accessibility of your living environment.
With your home care assistance, what tasks can your workers help with? Can they assist other household members as well?
Our dedicated in-home care staff can provide support for both primary clients and other family members, offering services ranging from personal care, nursing assistance, domestic help, community outings to allied health services.
How do you qualify for home care services?
To be eligible for a Home Care Package, an individual must be an older person aged 65 or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). Younger individuals with disability, dementia, or other care needs not met through specialist services may also qualify.
Eligibility is assessed based on health, mobility, and personal circumstances. My Aged Care’s online eligibility checker is the quickest way to check your eligibility. This helpful tool asks questions about your ability to perform daily activities, such as getting dressed and preparing meals. It also inquires about the support you receive at home from friends or family members, any recent events like a fall or hospital visit, and your emotional and mental well-being.
For more information, you can visit the My Aged Care website.
How much does in-home care cost?
Please reach out to us at 1300 240 076 or contact us for detailed information regarding our care management, package management, and other service fees.
How do you pay for home care services?
Your home care services can be funded through your Home Care Package. If you do not have a Home Care Package, you might be eligible for support through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. If you do not qualify for either of these programs, you can pay for services privately.
Do you issue monthly statements?
